White House may be sans Rahm Emanuel soon

Over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz concerning a member of the White House team. Specifically, it has been about Rahm Emanuel. Shortly, Obama will need a new Chief of Staff as Emanuel is leaving for greener pastures. Rahm wants a placement involving real power, and is running for Mayor of Chicago. Richard Daley is the present mayor. However, Daley is retiring at the end of his term. Rahm has been known to covet the job. Therefore, once the opportunity came up, individuals were talking about this.

Rahm to the hillsides

There have been plenty of rumors out there saying that Rahm Emanuel is going to run for Chicago mayor after being in his position. Nobody has heard if he is running for sure yet. It still isn’t official. However, there are numerous reports coming from Washington D.C. that he is. The Washington Post has given its opinion on things. It expects the White House will announce what is going on quite soon. The issue is something Obama is going to have to discuss. He can be doing a later press conference for this reason. Robert Gibbs is the White House Press Secretary. He announced that personnel changes have caused the White house to need to hold a press conference soon.

Most are labeling it a Daley move

Reelection isn’t something on Chicago Mayor Richard Daley’s mind. He decided that it wasn’t something he was going to pursue. After his current term expires, he will retire. Daley thinks it is time to move on, says the NY Times. His retirement is the end of a Chicago dynasty. His father, also named Richard Daley, was also a long time Democratic mayor of Chicago. Daley’s father was in his post until he passed away meaning he served from 1995 to 1976. Daley himself has been the mayor since 1989 when he was elected in. Except for 11 years, within the last 55 years Daley’s have been charge of Chicago as mayor.

Job wanted by Rahm

Rahm Emanuel is known to have wanted the job for a while. Emanuel may be just the one for the job considering that Democrats have ruled the city forever.
